Sugar Scrub Before or After Shaving? Here's Our Favorite Way to Use It

Heather Lewis

If you've ever wondered whether to use a sugar scrub before or after shaving, you're not alone. It's one of the most common questions we hear.

The answer is simple: before.

Exfoliating before you shave helps remove dry, rough skin and lift trapped hairs, allowing your razor to glide more smoothly across the skin. The result is often a closer shave and skin that feels noticeably softer afterward.

But here's where our routine is a little different.

A Better Way to Shave

Most people think of Sugar Soufflé as an exfoliator. While it does an incredible job buffing away dry, rough skin, one of my favorite ways to use it is during shaving.

As you massage Sugar Soufflé onto wet skin, the sugar crystals gently exfoliate while the formula transforms into a rich, creamy lather. Instead of rinsing it away, you can shave directly through the lather.

There's no need to rinse first or apply a separate shaving cream. The creamy lather gives your razor a smooth glide while leaving your skin feeling incredibly soft.

It's a simple little trick that's become one of my favorite parts of my shower routine.

Why Exfoliating Before Shaving Matters

Taking a minute to exfoliate before shaving can make a noticeable difference.

It helps:

  • Remove dry, rough skin for a smoother shave.
  • Lift trapped hairs for a closer shave.
  • Reduce the feeling of rough stubble after shaving.
  • Leave skin feeling softer and smoother.

Because Sugar Soufflé is oil-free, it rinses clean without leaving behind the slippery residue that many traditional sugar scrubs do.

Our Favorite Shower Routine

For the smoothest, softest skin, here's the routine we use:

  1. Cleanse your body with Resort Body Wash.
  2. Apply Sugar Soufflé to the areas you'll be shaving and massage in gentle circular motions.
  3. Shave directly through the creamy lather.
  4. Rinse with warm water.
  5. Pat skin dry.
  6. Finish with Body Cream to deeply hydrate and leave skin feeling silky soft.

Each product has its own job, and together they create a simple ritual that turns an everyday shower into something you actually look forward to.

Small Change. Big Difference.

Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.

If you've only been using Sugar Soufflé as an exfoliator, try shaving through the creamy lather the next time you're in the shower. You may find it becomes your favorite way to shave, too.
